Collection: Treat Gout

Gout is an inflammatory arthritis caused by too much uric acid in your body. Multiple studies have shown that people who consumed tart cherries and cherry juice on a regular basis reported fewer gout flare-ups than those who didn't eat cherry products. While more research is required with a wider range of people, there is evidence that putting cherries into your diet can help reduce uric acid in your body.

In fact, one of the most comprehensive studies on gout and cherry juice was conducted in 2012. According to the study, cherries reduce uric acid because they contain anthocyanins which is what gives cherries their color. Anthocyanins are also found in other fruits, such as blueberries, but there’s a lack of conclusive research on the effects of blueberry consumption on gout.

Anthocyanins also have anti-inflammatory properties; another reason why Tart Cherry is a natural anti-inflammatory. As mentioned earlier, this likely reduces the frequency of gout flares.
